Fees Type

A Fees Type is a category label for classifying school fees (e.g., Registration Fee, Tuition Fee, Library Fee, Laboratory Fee). Fee types are the first building block of the fees module — you assign them to fee configurations when creating a fee for a class.

Set up Fee Types first

You must create Fee Types before you can configure fees under Manage Fee. Each compulsory or optional fee line in a fee configuration references a Fee Type.

Create a Fees Type

Navigate to Fees → Fees Type
From the sidebar, expand **Fees** and click **Fees Type**. The Fees Type management page opens.

Fill in the creation form
At the top of the page, enter the fee type **Name** (required) and an optional **Description** explaining the purpose of this fee type.

Submit
Click **Submit** to create the fee type. It immediately appears in the list below. Click **Reset** to clear the form.

View Fee Types

The list table displays all created fee types with search, pagination, and export. Use the All / Trashed toggle to switch between active and deleted fee types. Click Export to download the list.


Edit a Fees Type

Click the Edit button
In the Action column of the fee type you want to modify, click the **Edit** (pencil) icon. An edit form appears with the current values pre-filled.

Update the fields
Change the **Name** or **Description** as needed.

Save changes
Click **Submit** to save your changes.
Editing a Fee Type affects display only

Renaming a Fee Type updates the label everywhere it is referenced (fee configurations, student fee screens, receipts). It does not change existing payment records.


Delete a Fees Type

Click the Delete button
In the Action column, click the **Delete** (trash) icon next to the fee type.

Confirm deletion
A confirmation dialog appears. Click **Confirm** to soft-delete the fee type.
Cannot delete fee types in use

If the Fee Type is currently used in any fee configuration (compulsory or optional), the system will prevent deletion. Remove all references first.


Restore a Deleted Fees Type

Deleted fee types are soft-deleted and can be recovered:

  1. In the fee type list, click the Trashed tab to view deleted items
  2. Click Restore next to the fee type you want to recover
  3. The fee type returns to the active list

To permanently remove a fee type, click Force Delete from the Trashed view.
